The Garden of Medicinal Plants,Kyoto Pharmaceutical University (GMP-KPU) is located at the mountainfoot of the east which went down the Yamashina basin to south 7km from the main campus (Misasagi Nakauchi-cho, Yamashina-ku, Kyoto-shi,Japan), and was founded in Showa . 43.
Yamashina is famous for Bisyamonten (the god of warriors) who protects the east door mouth of Tokaido which emits Kyoto once,
and the Oishi-kuranosuke's previous home, the ground of the Akechimitsuhide death,
and Zuishinin Temple is famous for Onono-Komachi, the scenic Yamashina canal, the Shiga-Naoya's previous home, etc.
Moreover, GMP-KPU is located in the about 1km south of Daigo-Sanpouin Temple famous for Hideyoshi's Daigo-no-Hanami.
Since it is 7km away from the main campus, although it is the source of a trouble which is not utilizable for educational research enough, The quality of the soil is best for medicinal plant cultivation, about 1,100 sorts of medicinal plants are planted in the site of about 13,016 square meters, and a scale is top class also in Japan, and many new medicinal plants which are not seen elsewhere are also grown.
